Overview
The multi camera API is not yet publicly available and the details of the API are subject to change.
The Multi Camera API is an extension of the Single Camera API that adds a set of entities related to capturing video from multiple cameras.
The Multi Camera API exposes two new entities; Volume and Camera.
Camera
Defining a camera type allows you to use the API with different camera types. Different cameras have different intrinsics. Intrinsics are properties of the camera like its optical center and focal length. It is possible to choose from a wide range of industry available standard camera types, or define a custom camera type.
Volume
A Volume is a space defined by a calibration setup. Here's a video of a person performing a callibration for a series of cameras in order to define a Volume.
Defining the volume; the steps for the actor
Start recording on all cameras.
The actor needs to stand in the centre of the volume.
Clap 3 times above your head as loud as possible.
Stand in the Y-pose in the centre of the volume.
Begin to calibrate the volume by walking towards each marker in the Y-pose. It's important to return to the centre before repeating this step for each phone.
Remain in the Y-pose with your arms above your head for the whole calibration.
Once finished stand back in the centre of the volume standing in the Y-pose.
End recording on all cameras.
Once a Volume is defined it can be used when creating a Take. The same Volume can be used across multiple takes as long as the camera position and configuration does not change.
